The Farmyard animals that most of the farms had in times gone by were sheep, cows, pigs and hens. Not forgetting the geese - they were the farm's watch dog, making a hellish noice when strangers came around the farmyard!

The horse was the farmer's strength working the land as well as his means of transport, and the sheep dog was his legs and above all his companion.
